Wirraka Maya Health Service Aboriginal Corporation (WMHSAC) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service designed to ensure our clients' journey through the health system meets their medical, health, social and cultural needs.

WMHSAC originated from the efforts of Aboriginal people to establish a health service that addressed the unmet needs of Aboriginal people in the Port Hedland, South Hedland areas and surrounding communities.

WMHSAC has over 7,000 Aboriginal people registered and are actively engaged and regularly receiving primary care, wellbeing and prevention services and programs. 

The Role

WMHSAC is seeking a Child Health Registered Nurse to join the team on a full time basis.

The Child Health Registered Nurse’s role is to improve the health, wellbeing, learning, development and safety outcomes for all children from birth to 15 years of age and their families. The objective is to ensure children live health lives through the delivery of our clinical services especially eye, ear, oral health and immunisations.

Role Requirements

The preferred applicant will be required to hold a valid Western Australian Working with Children Check Card, valid Driver’s License and a National Police Clearance as well as:  

  • Qualifications in nursing and current registration with APHRA;
  • Post graduate qualifications in child/family health;
  • At least 3 years post graduate experience;
  • Recent experience in midwifery/paediatric or primary health care;
  • Be immunisation certified;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience in report writing;
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs;
  • Capacity to learn the software programs used by the service.
