The Royal Australian Air Force are working out of Wirraka Maya Health Service Aboriginal Corporation for Exercise Kummundoo, an initiative by the Royal Australian Air Force and the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation that aims to support, engage and improve conditions in rural Aboriginal communities.

Flight Lieutenant Luke Pitty, a Dental Officer, said that his dental team, who are based at Wirraka Maya Health Service Aboriginal Corporation, have been seeing local Aboriginal community members, assessing their dental issues, providing treatment and education.

“We’ve been supplementing the local dental services, which struggle to get providers in the Pilbara region,” he said.

“We’ve also been instilling oral health education and instruction, so our time here can have an enduring impact in the community.”
