Healthy Transition to Adulthood (HTTA)

Wirraka Maya’s Healthy Transition to Adulthood (HTTA) program supports young people as they navigate the transition from childhood into adulthood. The program focuses on strengthening social and emotional wellbeing, identity, confidence and connection during this important stage of life.

HTTA provides culturally safe, youth‑centred support that recognises the challenges young people may face, while building on their strengths, aspirations and connection to culture, family and community.

Supporting young people to thrive

The HTTA program delivers a range of wellbeing and engagement activities designed to support positive development and resilience. Through programs such as Healthy Mind, Healthy Body and Tidda Maya, young people are supported to build confidence, strengthen wellbeing and develop healthy coping strategies in safe, supportive environments.

More than 200 adolescents have been engaged through HTTA activities, reflecting strong participation and the importance of dedicated youth spaces that feel welcoming, relevant and culturally appropriate.

HTTA also supports young people to explore future pathways and build a strong sense of identity. The Taking Steps program connects youth with workplace exposure and identity‑building activities, helping young people learn about opportunities, build skills and develop confidence for the future.

Accessing HTTA programs

HTTA programs are available to young people through Wirraka Maya’s Social and Emotional Wellbeing services. Participation can be discussed through self‑referral, family referral, or connection via schools and other services.
