Outreach Services

Wirraka Maya provides regular outreach services to communities around the Hedland area, helping ensure people can access health and wellbeing support closer to home. Outreach services play an important role in reducing barriers to care, particularly for people living in remote or regional communities.

Our outreach teams travel weekly across the region, working alongside communities to deliver culturally safe, responsive care that reflects local needs and priorities.

Primary Health outreach

Wirraka Maya’s Primary Health team delivers outreach services to Warralong and Strelley, providing essential health care and follow‑up support. Outreach visits help community members access care without needing to travel long distances.

Primary Health outreach services may include:

  • Health checks and assessments
  • Vaccinations
  • Medication distribution
  • Chronic disease management
  • Follow‑up care and referrals

These visits support continuity of care and help people stay connected to their health care over time.

Social & Emotional Wellbeing outreach

Our Social & Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) team also delivers outreach services to Yandeyarra and Marble Bar, supporting access to culturally appropriate mental health and wellbeing care in remote communities.

SEWB outreach provides safe, supportive spaces for individuals, families and community members to access counselling, wellbeing support and follow‑up care. This outreach helps ensure people can access support when and where it is needed, without leaving community and Country.
