Counselling & Psychology

Wirraka Maya’s Counselling & Psychology services provide culturally safe, trauma‑informed support for individuals, families and community members experiencing emotional, social or mental health challenges. Our services are grounded in trust, respect and cultural understanding, supporting people to feel heard, supported and empowered.

Counselling and psychology services are delivered by experienced professionals who work closely with Wirraka Maya’s Social and Emotional Wellbeing team and broader health services. Support is tailored to each person’s needs, recognising that healing and wellbeing are shaped by connection to family, culture, community and life experience.

Counselling & Psychology services support people experiencing a wide range of challenges, including stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship difficulties and other life pressures. Support is provided in a safe, confidential environment where people can talk openly and at their own pace.

Services may be delivered one‑on‑one or as part of coordinated care alongside other Wirraka Maya programs. A Social Worker has been introduced to strengthen holistic support, helping address broader social and practical needs that may be impacting wellbeing.

To date, Wirraka Maya’s Counselling & Psychology program has delivered over 1,200 counselling sessions and more than 300 psychological assessments.
