Social & Emotional Wellbeing
Wirraka Maya’s Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) services provide culturally safe, holistic support for Aboriginal people, families and communities across Hedland and surrounding areas. Our services are grounded in respect, trust and cultural understanding, supporting people through life’s challenges in ways that honour identity, culture and community connection.
Our approach recognises that wellbeing is shaped by many factors — including connection to family, culture, Country, spirit and community. We bring together Aboriginal ways of healing with trauma‑informed and clinical support to help people feel supported, strong and connected.
No-wrong doors
SEWB services at Wirraka Maya support people who may be experiencing challenges that impact their emotional, social or mental wellbeing. This can include stress, grief and loss, trauma, mental health concerns, alcohol and other drug use, family and relationship challenges, or other pressures affecting day‑to‑day life.
We take a no‑wrong‑door approach, meaning people can access support without needing a referral or appointment. Our team provides a safe, confidential and welcoming space where people feel heard, respected and supported. Support may be provided one‑on‑one, in group settings or through outreach and community‑based activities.
Our SEWB team also delivers trauma‑informed care, recognising the impacts of intergenerational trauma and life experiences, and working alongside people at their own pace to support healing and recovery.
